For most of its history, ERP was the preserve of large corporations with the budget, the IT staff, and the patience for multi-year implementation projects. For India's vast mid-market — companies with revenues between ₹50 crore and ₹2,000 crore — ERP was aspirational at best. That calculus has changed fundamentally.
Cloud-native ERP deployment has collapsed both the upfront cost and the implementation timeline. SAP Business One, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and Oracle NetSuite all offer subscription models that eliminate the ₹2–5 crore hardware investment that was once the barrier to entry.
IDC's India ERP market analysis for 2025 shows the mid-market segment is now the fastest-growing part of the Indian ERP market, growing at 28% annually.
The Competitive Liability
Disconnected accounting software, separate inventory systems, and manual HR processes represent a real competitive liability at the scale mid-market businesses are trying to reach. ERP is no longer about aspiration — it is about survival.
